Why Doyle for BOT?
My name is Sarah Doyle, and I am running for the Student Trustee for the UIS campus. Currently, I am the Student Government Association Secretary. Through SGA I have met many administrators and represented the UIS students through my participation on the Campus Senate, Intercollegiate Athletic Committee, Student Web Advisory for Enrollment, Committee on Committees Chair, Lobby Decor Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee. The Strategic Planning committee provided me with a working knowledge of our campus’s aspirations and the hurdles we must clear to realize these goals. With the support of Carrie Bauer, current Student Trustee, and Andrew Hollingsead, former Student Trustee, I am able to make a noticeable difference for UIS. UIS needs a student with great communication skills to be a powerful representative for UIS because we only account for approximately three percent of the University’s $3.4 billion annual budget. As Student Trustee, I plan to improve the University’s implementation of the Truth in Tuition Act and make it fair for our transfer students, be involved with the future of the Living/Learning environment UIS strives to continue, continue work with the U of I Council (UIUC, UIC, and UIS) to lobby in the Capital for higher education, work with organizations associated with the University (The Alumni Association) to augment awareness of University issues in the statehouse, ensure the integrity of graduate programs, and work to preserve our campus’s tradition of bringing together a diverse student body for the finest educational experience possible.
