Who is Sarah Doyle?

A personal statement from Sarah Doyle:

Hello all.  My name is Sarah Doyle and I am going to give you a brief description about myself.  I am from LaGrange Park, IL which is a suburb about fifteen minutes outside of Chicago.  I have lived there my entire life with my mother, Mary along with my brother, Billy who is 17, and my sister Bridget who is 19.  My parents have been divorced since I was six and my father, Bill, and my step-mother, Nancy, live in Naperville, IL which is half an hour from my house.

I graduated from high school in 2003 with a class of about 900 kids.  Let me just say it is very difficult to get involved when there are so many kids in your class.  However, I was a cheerleader all four years and enjoyed supporting the numerous sports teams for my high school.

I came to UIS as a freshman in the Fall of 2003 for the political studies program.  My goal was to work with politics but I wasn't exactly sure how I wanted to work for politics and what better place to figure it out than the capital of Illinois

My freshmen year here I was a cheerleader.  My number one priority in college was to focus on my academics.  My sophomore year here I was not involved in anything mainly because I was unsure if I could commit the time needed to my extra curricular activities.

At the end of my junior year, my good friend convinced me to run for SGA secretary.  I had never been involved in a student office before and decided that I wanted to make the most of my experience here at UIS.

And...here I am.  After a busy year of becoming strong recognized student leader on campus I have decided to run for Student Trustee.  This past year on campus made me realize the voice that student’s have on campus and the difference every student can make.  SGA has taken up a lot of initiatives this year and I have worked closely with President Drews to help make student involvement noticeable and a major part of this campus.

For next year, I will live on campus.  I will be graduating in December 2006 with a major in Political Studies and a double minor in both Economics and Communication.  In Spring of 2007 I will begin my studying for a master's degree in Public Administration.

I can give two full years as Student Trustee for the University of Illinois at Springfield and know I can make a noticeable difference for UIS.
